1950 Gotham Steel, Automatic Pop Shot Basketball, Factory Sealed in Original Box

1950 Gotham Steel, Automatic Pop Shot Basketball, Factory Sealed in Original Box

Fantastic 55 year old mechanical tin litho "skill" game never played with or used. Still factory staple sealed in original box. Toy has never been removed from the box.

Box illustration shows the concept of a basketball player with movable hands. Appears to hold a "basketball" which may be celluloid or tin litho. It seems you aim toward a set of three bells mounted onto a support. I stared at the drawing for 10 minutes and I have no idea how the marbles are used.

Both endflaps are still factory staple sealed. Gotham was a small New York City toy company which produced pressed steel products for almost 30 years. They were the first company to release a tin litho baseball game which featured Jackie Robinson.
